English supports our children to communicate in school and in everyday life: we encourage pupils to value the opinions of others; have empathy and tolerance for all; and formulate independent opinions. Literature exposes pupils to different cultures and contexts – giving pupils the chance to reflect, understand the world around them, and express themselves clearly, confidently and creatively.
