‘Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and how it dictates and influences our behaviour, from communication and memory to thought and emotion.’ (British Psychological Society)
At St. Gabriel’s, we aim to deliver an inclusive curriculum that is both engaging and challenging for all. Pupils will develop an understanding of the psychological concepts that impact health, development and growth and will consider these ideas in real-life contexts. With the strength of the Lord at its centre, spiritual education will be facilitated by asking pupils to consider questions relating to their behaviour, thoughts, and beliefs. Pupils are encouraged to apply their own beliefs to a range of ethical and psychological issues, as well as respecting the opinions of others. Pupils will develop morally by discussing values, attitudes and beliefs relating to ethical issues. Pupils will develop an understanding and respect for human behaviour in different cultures which will empower them to become well serving members of the community. With innovative, quality-first teaching, we aim to foster a love of psychology to ensure that pupils are provided with the tools they need to succeed in psychology-related courses and careers.
